Did you know that the Bible gives clear directions for living a fruitful and happy life? Read through the 7 Pillars of wisdom and see the starting line to God’s map to victory. If you are willing to start down the path and follow as directed, it will change your life forever. Your launching point doesn’t matter. What matters is your willingness to start the journey.
Start Living in Victory
The Bible says that wisdom has the advantage of success (Ecclesiastes 10:10 NASB).
If you are looking for an edge that will alter your life; simply apply wisdom. Victory will come your way, but will be within the confines of what the Lord knows is best for you.
Victory may not come in the way you plan, because we all have specific lessons to learn. Remember, the Lord takes all of your individual circumstances into consideration, and you can make wise decisions when you apply the precepts of wisdom taught in Scripture.
Wisdom is the principal thing…(Proverbs 4:7 KJV). It is more valuable than the highest quality of gold or fine jewels. True success is fantastic, but hardship and adversity can ravage your soul. You can make wise decisions with training and practice (I Timothy 2:15 KJV).
The Definition of Wisdom
What is wisdom you ask? Wisdom is the teaching of a personal God who is holy and just and expects those who know him to exhibit his character in many practical affairs of life…wisdom is expressed in shrewdness (Harris, Archer & Waltke, 1980, The Wordbook of the Old Testament, Vol. I, p 283).
Wisdom has Seven Pillars
According to the words of King Solomon and other writers of scripture, wisdom has a house built on seven pillars (Proverbs 9:1 NASB). A pillar is a foundation that something rests on to make it secure, such as a house or a skyscraper.
The author of Proverbs does not directly name the seven pillars. I think it is a riddle that is meant to be solved. Perhaps he chuckled a little because he understood that it takes hard work and devoted study. He wanted you and me to diligently search for the answers, and learn to be wise.
I deduced that the pillars are as follows: understanding, instruction in wise behavior, righteousness, justice and equity, prudence for the naïve, and knowledge and discretion for youth.
Understanding
Get to know God through understanding.
Instruction in wise behavior
Learn to exhibit wise behavior
Righteousness
Listen and receive instruction in righteousness.
Justice
We deserve punishment for our sinful nature through justice.
Equity
Jesus took our punishment and demonstrated equity.
Prudence for the naive
Be cautious or prudent, not naïve
Knowledge and discretion for youth
Learn to use knowledge and discretion
If these are indeed the seven pillars, they provide a firm foundation for wisdom. They are for our benefit. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, (1 Corinthians 1:30 NASB). In James 1:5, God promises to give liberally to all who ask him for wisdom. Ask him for wisdom today.
